Rotary Dryer/Coolers works as industrial equipment which finds use in drying/cooling of reasonably free flowing materials through the introduction of drying/cooling media directly onto processing material. Here, the material which needs to be dried/cooled enters through the dryer and with the rotation of dryer material is raised through a sequence of inner fins lining that comes fixed on the interior wall of the dryer.

Working Principle of Direct heaters/coolers:
Material that requires being dried/cooled comes in direct contact with drying/cooling medium.
Here, Drying/Cooling media is admitted through stationary inlet hood at one end and is discharged from stationary discharge hood at another end.
Feed admitted through suitable feeding mechanism like screw feeder/simple chute.
Rotating shell provided with the specially designed material showerings mechanism like lifters and others.
Shell inclination & rotating speed allow forward movement of material towards discharge end, thus offering required residence time.
Drying (or Cooling) is done through heat transfer to/from showering material with drying/cooling media within a shell.
Product discharged from stationary hood using suitable equipment like rotary valve/ flap valve/screw conveyor/chute among others.
Working Principle of Indirect heaters/coolers:
Material which needs to be dried does not come in direct contact with dry media.
Dryer comprises assembly featuring two concentric rotating shells that come supported on rollers & tire stations and driven through suitable drive arrangement.
Feed admitted through suitable feeding mechanism including screw feeder/flap valve into dryer through stationary inlet feed hood.
Specially designed return gas passages on the inside of the outer shell that allows drying media admitted through the inner shell to travel towards discharge end & again return towards feed end.
Inner shell provided with suitable radial lifters.
Drying takes place through heat transfer to showering material by direct contact with inner shell & return passages.
Dryers/coolers come steel fabricated and are supported by solid steel columns and beams/rollers and tire arrangement.
Rotating shell driven through suitable drive arrangement which comprises girth gear and pinion driven through gear reducer and coupled to the motor of suitable rating.
Also provided with separate pollution control equipment installed alongside dryers.
Firing arrangement makes use of different fuel forms including liquid, gaseous and solid fuels.
